Background

Nienna was born to the matriarch of the Emberroost, a Harpy clan with vibrant red feathers and an affinity to fire. Her father was a human, as Harpies are pre-dominately female. He was hand picked by her mother to ensure spawning a pure Harpy child, as humans possess a rather weak genetic makeup. And while Nienna is in fact a pure Harpy, her genes mutated. No talons, dim, grey feathers, flightless wings. While her mother was shocked and ashamed of her worthless spawn, she wasn't heartless enough to exile her own child. The other Harpies didn't like the idea of having a 'freeloader' in their clan, but they wouldn't dare protest against their matriarch. Instead, they openly showed their frustration towards the young Harpy. Hot-headed as she was, she of didn't quietly take their dismay, and fought back on a daily basis. Her standings with her clan wasn't exactly great and she felt no commitment towards it, but she had no opportunity to leave. How would a flightless Harpy survive outside of her clan? She started to harbor insecurities, despite her defiance. If only her feathers were beautiful like theirs, if only she could take flight like them...

Niennas plans were soon to change as she received an invitation to a certain school. She didn't tell anyone, not even her mother, when she just found it, laying in front of her after she woke up. It didn't take long for her to make up her mind and open the strange letter. She was excited, despite being a little intimidated when she was immediately teleported right in front of said school right after reading it.
